Prehistoric toothpicks
Posted by Marek in Dentists in Poland say that most probably already prehistoric men used toothpicks. This is evidenced by the findings from before 1.8 million years in the area of today?™s Georgia. Scientists found there, among others, four mandibles, which recently were studied. At the moment,these are the oldest finds of remains of human ancestors located outside Africa. The mandibles were analyzed using forensic techniques. The test results indicated a gingival inflammation at the surface of one of the tooth roots. Probably the inflammation was caused by the frequent use of what looked like a toothpick today, but itirritated the soft tissue.
The studies were conducted also to provide answers, what did our ancestors eat and how long they lived?“the answers were provides the shape of the jaw changing under the influence of how over time the teeth clashed.
