Dentists in Poland say that during the summer we should remember to drink a lot of water. Children over 10 years of age should drink a minimum of 2 liters of beverages a day. Younger kids must drink min. 1.5 liters per day, and children up to 3 years old 1.3 liters per day. This should mainly be still mineral water or unsweetened and non-carbonated beverages. The best is still water as it contains no sugars – so the mouth does not develop caries.

You have to remember that children are the most vulnerable to dehydration. Sipping water makes the remains of food wash out and cleanses the teeth. In addition, saliva maintains the proper consistency and composition, and thus can fulfill its role in cleaning the oral cavity.
